Help your patients achieve weight loss with our new Big Weigh In Support Scheme
Throughout PDSA’s Big Weigh In campaign, we want to help pet owners overcome pet obesity – but we know there are barriers associated with getting pets to their ideal weight.
This year, each practice that has signed up to PDSA’s Big Weigh In campaign will be able to submit up to 2 patient cases to this new scheme. What this means is that Royal Canin will sponsor the weight loss journey of 6 pets for 6 months including funded nutrition and check-in appointments with your patient.
What is involved?
If you identify a suitable case for weight loss through PDSA’s Big Weigh In campaign, Royal Canin will, if selected, provide free funded weight loss nutrition for 6 months to the pet owner through your practice, and will send your practice £200 worth of free ROYAL CANIN® veterinary product of your choice via your wholesaler if you offer the patient 6 additional weigh in appointments to track their progress.
Successful submissions will be expected to have both full consent from the pet owner and be willing to keep track of the case and send in photos of weight loss progress for use in future campaign promotions.
How do I submit a patient?
Step 1. Check the pet owner is willing to be part of the scheme and explain what is involved
Step 2. Submit the case through our online form. The form will be available from 1st February and you can access it here. You must also send a photo of the pet showing its current weight for assessment as you will need to email this to us on the address listed on the form. The deadline for submissions is 1st April 2024
Step 3. If your submission has been successful, you will be contacted by Monday 15th April. You’ll need to let us know what nutrition they need so we can reimburse you and issue your practice with £200 worth of free ROYAL CANIN® veterinary product of your choice via your wholesaler
Step 4. You’ll be sent a pet owner consent form, to ensure they are onboard with the Support Scheme, which you will need to get the pet owner to sign
Step 5. That’s it! Simply keep us updated with a photo and weight loss from each follow-up weigh in appointment. Email us your photos here!
Terms and conditions
Informed consent must be gained from the pet owner in writing if successful, which will include the right for PDSA and Royal Canin to use images of their pet in promotional materials to promote the campaign. By completing the form, you must believe the pet owner will be committed to attending appointments. The practice will need to confirm which of our diets will be most suitable for the pet and we will credit your account with both the cost of the food for 6 months supply as well as a £200 credit to counteract the 6 weigh in appointments. If the pet owner withdraws from the scene, future food and appointments will be cancelled and images erased.
